1) Scope & Children

This Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use our site and related features (“Services”). The Services are for users 13+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (COPPA). If you believe a child submitted data, contact us for removal.

2) What We Collect

We do not intend to collect sensitive categories. Please avoid submitting them.

3) How We Use Data

  • Provide & operate the Services (run tests, present results, store history if enabled).

  • Security & abuse prevention (rate-limit tokens, bot/fraud signals, anomaly detection).

  • Improve & personalize (test methodology tuning, performance analytics, A/B tests, remembering preferences).

  • Communications (support replies, service notices, policy updates).

  • Payments & compliance (if applicable).

  • Advertising/affiliate measurement (if enabled) and campaign attribution.

Legal bases for EEA/UK visitors (if applicable): contract; legitimate interests; consent (non-essential cookies/marketing); legal obligation.

4) Cookies & Similar Technologies

We use cookies/local storage/SDKs for: strictly necessary operations; preferences; performance/analytics; security/abuse prevention; and (if enabled) advertising/attribution. Manage choices via Cookie Settings and your browser. See our Cookie Policy.

5) Sharing & Disclosures

  • Service providers: hosting/CDN/test servers, analytics, security/fraud, customer support, email delivery, payments.

  • Advertising/affiliate partners: where enabled and subject to your preferences.

  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.

  • Legal/safety: compliance with law and protection of rights/users.

We do not sell personal information for money. Some states deem certain ads/analytics uses a “sale” or “sharing”—see State Rights.

6) U.S. State Privacy Rights

Depending on your state (e.g., California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, portability, and opt-out of targeted advertising or certain “sales/shares,” plus appeal.
California (CPRA): You may request access/portability, correction, deletion, and opt-out of “sale/share.” We endeavor to honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals for ads-related opt-outs. Provide a footer link titled “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.”
Nevada: You may opt out of “sale” (we don’t sell for money; you can still record your preference).

How to exercise: email support@internetconnectioncheck.com with your state/region; we’ll verify identity and respond within legal timeframes.

7) Retention (typical)

  • Test logs & analytics: 12–24 months, then aggregated/anonymized.

  • Account/profile: life of account + up to 24 months inactivity.

  • Transaction records: 7 years (finance/tax).

  • Security/abuse logs: 12–60 months depending on risk.

  • Support tickets: 24 months after closure.

  • Backups: rolling, time-limited.

8) Security

Encryption in transit, access controls, environment separation, monitoring, and least-privilege access. No method is 100% secure—use a strong, unique password and consider wired testing for critical measurements.

9) DNT/GPC & International Transfers

We currently do not act on browser Do Not Track (DNT) signals due to industry variance. We endeavor to honor GPC signals for ads-related opt-outs where feasible. Data may be processed in the U.S. and other countries; where required, we use Standard Contractual Clauses and supplementary measures.

10) Changes & Contact

We may update this Policy; material changes will be posted. Continued use after the effective date means acceptance. Questions/requests: support@internetconnectioncheck.com.
